Skin and Cancer Center of Arizona

4.5(313)
725 S. Dobson Road, Suite 200, Chandler, AZ 85224

Our Take

A dermatology practice first, and the name to know locally for skin cancer, where Mohs surgery and serious medical care set the tone.

Known for

  • Skin-cancer treatment and Mohs surgery
  • Drs. Fernandes, Owen, and Pearl, named by reviewers for their expertise
  • Board-certified physicians, 4.5 stars across 313 reviews
  • Clear, no-nonsense communication and efficient, unfussy care

Patients come here for serious dermatologic medicine, and they tend to name the people who treated them. Drs. Fernandes, Owen, and Pearl draw repeated praise for their expertise and clear, no-nonsense communication, while the wider staff is described again and again as kind, knowledgeable, and professional.

The care runs efficient and straight to the point rather than fussy, and overall sentiment sits firmly positive at roughly 4.4 to 4.5 stars. Bedside manner is the one variable, shifting somewhat from provider to provider.

Worth knowing

The recurring honest note is wait times: even patients who have finished their paperwork report long waits, with a few scattered mentions of scheduling mix-ups or incorrect information in the system, so build in some buffer.

The Aesthetiq editorial synthesis of public reviews & social sentiment. Individual results and experiences vary.

Office staff are nice, friendly, and professional. Wait times are very reasonable. However my PA seems always in a rush and doesn't spend anytime listening. Quick to prescribe medication without getting much details. My primary doctor advised me to not follow her advice because these meds are to be only taken for very specific cases. Go figure.

Dr. Nirali Patel is outstanding. She is professional, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain everything in a way that is easy to understand. I never felt rushed during appointment and always leave with a clear understanding of my care plan. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend. Everyone is very nice, smooth process, wait isn’t long to be seen, beautiful and clean building, I feel very confident in the service I receive here and feel they take the time to listen and care about their patients. There are a couple of handicap parking spots. Walk inside and take the elevator (right inside the front door) to the second floor and the office is right there when exiting the elevator.

UPDATE: Finally was able to book an appointment with the facility. Thank you for explaining the phone system issue. I change my rating to five stars, because the staff was amazing and the doctor who I saw was top tier, and they really do seem to take my concerns to heart. If you want to feel cared for, this is the place to go 🥰 Wow!! Been trying to speak to someone since Friday by phone to schedule an appointment? Like others have said...trying to reach someone by phone is wild! After 11 minutes on hold, you will get disconnected after waiting twice for a representative, before they switch you over to leave a voice message AND GUESS WHAT? The mailbox is full for extension #111 🫣 So I sent them an e-mail, and hope I will hear back from them soon. If not, I just might have to go to the office in person. Please hire more people to handle the high volume of calls. This is not how a business should operate regarding patients.

The receptionist at the front desk, Leah put all my anxiety to rest and made me feel like she really cared for me and what I was going through. It was a vary comforting experience.
